SIGALAS WINE COMPANY – Santorini

SIGALAS WINE COMPANY Ltd was founded in 1991 by Pari Sigala, Christo Markozane and Gianni Tounda. The company used the old, traditional winery of Sigalas family, as place to create their new wines.

Since 1994, the company has entered a program for biological argiculture and works with D.I.O. certifying organism. 13 acres of vineyards are cultivated in a traditional way while there is a permanent cooperation with other producers who also follow the same program. One of the company’s targets is to biologicaly cultivate the whole of Oia’s vineyard.

Biological cultivation of vineyards is also supported by soil composition which is dry and volcanic and by the climate (light and dry winters, cool summers). Grape varieties cultivated in the Oia region are Asyrtiko, Athiri, Aidani, Mandilaria. Harvest is held in the middle of August with a yield of 300-600 Kgr/strema
