Monastery of Panagia Spiliotissa
Between the villages Aristi ans Papigo in Zagori, 48 km from Ioannina, on a rock next to the river Voidomatis, the monastery of Panagia Spiliotissa (Virgin Mary of the Cave) is built.
According to I. Labrides it was bult in 1579 but some preserved inscriptions refer that it was built in 1665 by the monks Ioakim and Sofronios and was frescoed in 1673 by the monk Parthenios.
The walls were based succesfully on the rock in a masterful way. Recently, restoration works were done in the monasetry.
